Day 16. Jabiru, Kakadu NP. 19.7.23

Up early ish this morning for a 7.30am departure to Cooinda to do a 2hr yellow water cruise. It was fantastic.  We saw lots of birds, crocodiles and the most beautiful scenery. **lots of photos and videos to come**. I am very tired so this page may be finished tomorrow.

Our first croc sighting

Brolgas,  head down tail up.
Common name Jesus bird, real name escapes me for the moment. Part of the Cassowary family.

Van Gough, approximately 50+ years old and the largest known croc in this system.

This croc followed the boat for awhile.
Flood Plains.
Duck family.
Magpie Geese.

Cruise over, we made the most of the Cooinda Lodge facilities and had our pre packed morning tea. Had a quick look around at some of the art work.

Crossing the South Alligator River heading to Barramundi Falls for a swim.

Lots of termite mounds.
Lots of dust and corrugations.

Where are you G&W, this is your road.

Mark and Dean.

After a scramble back over the rocks we headed back towards Jabiru, stopping at a lookout.

The track to the tower. It was steep and rocky and way too hot to be climbing a mountain!

Another photo 🤦‍♀️ too tired and hot
A solitary flower in the bush.
Heading back for a swim and dinner.

Today was exhaustingly fun. The temperature was 33°.
We drove 230kms.
