Day 17. Cahills Crossing, Kakadu NP. 20.7.23

Knowing we only had 50ish kms to travel today I put all our grotty, red dusty mats in the free washing machines and then went for a walk to see the Jabiru lake.

Disturbed a few black cockatoos.

After we were all packed up Mark and Dean decided to take a last dip before hitting the road.

Our first stop was at the Bowali visitor centre.

Adventurer extraordinare!
Magpie Geese,  we saw these on the cruise yesterday.

On the road to Merl Campground at Cahills Crossing.

After setting up, lunch and a little rest we headed off to walk down to the crossing to watch the crocodiles 🐊. It was really hot and thankfully we had water with us.

This one was checking us out.

The crossing to Arnhem Land.

After all that excitement we walked back and had a snack before driving to Ubirr to look at some artwork and watch the sunset.

It was a decent climb up to the top but the views were spectacular.

Up the top was the place to be for sunset.

We sat around Dean's fire for awhile after dinner. A tawny frogmouth joined us.
Today we drove 47kms. The temperature got to 34°
